The Back-country Survival Match was designed specifically to be mounted on the out side of a fixed blade knife sheath. When you are in the woods, you can never have too many fire starters on your body. So, I've started making some basic carry rigs for them. Over the years, I've played with just about every "flint" type fire starter I could find. Generally either they could not be attached to a sheath well or it would just break (or both!). I knew that there had to be something better. So, this is what I came up with.
All BSM handles are machined from T6-6061 aircraft aluminum. They are then tumbled in abrasive media for about 8 hours to completely deburr them and give them a nice finish. They are assembled with both 2 ton epoxy and a steel spring pin. There is no way to unintentionally separate the handle from the rod.
This Stubby BSM includes a dangler sheath and your choice of a whistle or glow in the dark cord end attached to the green or orange para cord lanyard.
